Day 314: K

These are our last days in Columbia, and I'm getting nostalgic about the most random things - like this drive down Route K I've taken hundreds of times.

Day 289: Purple II

Was feeling well enough today to venture into the garden to take some photos. I hate being sick.

Day 285: Purple

Today we got started on our CoMo Bucket List and went for a hike in Rock Bridge State Park. Tim had never been to see the Devil's Icebox before.

Day 284: Sky

This was the view from our hotel room in Ft. Leonard Wood, where Tim filled out his paperwork to leave the Marine Corps. Let me say that one more time. Tim filled out his paperwork to leave the Marine Corps. (!!!)

Day 283: Dinner V

Tim's first few nights back in the states were spent in Springfield and St. Robert, getting processed out of the Marine Corps. So I took him out for dinner at one of St. Robert's top rated restaurants - Cracker Barrel (seriously, I looked on TripAdvisor). Welcome home to rural Missouri.

Day 210: Light II

There are several spots on my daily drive that I always want to stop and photograph, but I never do. Today I actually pulled over and shot for a bit at one of those spots. Hopefully I'll start doing this more.

Day 209: Park

Oh my, what a beautiful day today. I love the smell of those February days when the temperature gets up in the 60s. I had to go to the park and take a walk.

Pretty sky tonight as the moon rose. And was it just me, or did I smell a faint hint of spring?

Day 194: Blizzard

Turns out it's hard to take pictures of a "snowpocalypse," which is what everyone is calling this storm. So most of my day was spent snacking, reading, and playing on the internet (snow days are mostly like regular days when you don't have a job).

Day 191: Leaves II

Tried something new today and shot these leaves with the sun directly behind them - and it actually turned out pretty.

Day 188: Melt

I won't say how many tries it took me to get a shot of a drop falling off an icicle. Ok, 74.

Day 187: Bird

I've been cropping a lot of my photos into squares lately, not sure why. I think I like the vintage feel it creates. There was plenty of light for my zoom lens today, and I got this little bird hanging out in the garden.

Day 185: Icicles

"It's very unusual for Michael not to show up for work. My guess, he's either deeply depressed or an icicle has snapped off his roof and impaled his brain. He has this terrible habit of standing directly underneath them and staring up at them. And I always say, 'Michael, take two steps back and stare at the icicle from the side.' And he's like, 'No, I like the way they look from standing directly underneath them.' It was only a matter of time."

It's a sad day when my best shots are from my iPhone. Or maybe just a good day for the iPhone.

Sometimes you just have to pull the car over and take photos. Or maybe that's just me.
